The Story Behind Unique Horsebling
After 8 years as a purely hobby-based business, we are now a registered company.
The idea of a horseshoe mounted on a wooden base came about 9 years ago when I, Camilla, had an amazing and unique para-dressage horse named “After Eight’s Chanel.” Knowing I probably wouldn’t have her for many years — since I bought her at age 20 — I began thinking creatively in 2016 about how I could make something to honor her, and maybe something others would want as a tribute to their four-legged friends too.
Horseshoes were an obvious choice. Luckily, my father is a trained furniture machinist, so combining those two ideas wasn’t far off. I kept pondering how to merge the elements, and the idea of a “floating” horseshoe trophy-style design came to mind — it would need welded rods!
As thought — soon done — I was also fortunate to have an old neighbor who is a highly skilled blacksmith, and he was excited to help with my floating horseshoe project.
So, the first decorated horseshoe on a wooden base was completed on September 9, 2016.
A dream came to life, and I created a truly unique keepsake to honor my amazing mare 😍
I shared my joy with friends, acquaintances, and family, and before I knew it, I was making horseshoes for others. I loved it then
— and I still do!
Over the years, many new ideas for horseshoes have emerged, including various framed models, horseshoes on small, discreet metal bases, horseshoes designed as clocks, high-polished horseshoes on wooden bases and in frames (a model recently revived), and more. Some of these designs I still make, while others I’ve chosen to put partly on hold for later use or further development.
The thought of helping someone honor their four-legged friend — that’s the most amazing feeling!
Seeing the joy in the messages I receive from all you wonderful customers, and on those rare occasions when I’m lucky enough to witness you receiving your finished horseshoe — it’s an absolutely incredible feeling and makes all the hard work completely worthwhile!
